The APC Scholarship
Funds for the Sasayama Scholarship were donated to the APC Scholarship Fund by Mr. George Ishiyama from the Ishiyama Foundation. George Ishiyama was the President of Alaska Pulp Corporation from 1983 until he passed away in 2003 at the age of 88.

Mr. Ishiyama believed in the value of education and also wanted to leave a legacy to the communities of Sitka and Wrangell to memorialize the name of Alaska Pulp Company and Mr. Sasayama, the Company founder.

The APC Scholarship is available to Wrangell and Sitka High School seniors who plan to pursue post-secondary education. Selection is based on outstanding academic achievement and/or special talent. Only seniors who plan to pursue post-secondary education are eligible.

Funds from the $10,000 APC Scholarship are distributed over a four year period in equal yearly payments. Students must remain in good standing and carry a full course load as prescribed by the post-secondary school in order to maintain eligibility status and receive the $2,500 funding each year.
